Prasanna Rao won Gold Medal in Asian Under 10 Championship,
2004 - Singapore
The Asian Youth Chess Championship was held at Tao Nan School, Singapore, from 11th December 2004 to 17th December 2004. A total of 329 players from 23 countries had participated in the tournament including boys and girls under 8, 10, 12, and 14. Prasanna got the 1st Prize and won the Gold Medal in the boys under 10 category. He scored 7.5 points out of 9 rounds with 46 players from 20 different countries. He also got another gold medal as the Indian Team won the championship in the Under 10 category. Prasanna defeated players from Singapore, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Philippines Australia and India, including the top seed N. Srinath. He also drew with Song Raymond from Australia, who stood 4th in the World Youth Chess Championship 2004 held in Greece.
